Conflicting Interests
Clean slate,
I hear them say.
Clean of what?
The dirt between the
striae of my soul?
I've always been
meticulous about
keeping grime out.
So when a little slips in,
I'm mortified,
and chase it away.
I'm always a clean slate,
unless you ask my brain,
who hates being renewed,
as it erases all collected
memory and sagacity,
every single time.
