We spend so much of our life
Creating a world inside of our head.
That isn’t real.
A fantasy of what we want,
Instead of accepting what we already have.

We dream of a better future,
A legacy,
Where we have all the control and power
To leave behind our faults,
In order to find purpose and belonging.

We dream of opportunities,
A chance to live out the life we never had,
To become what we thought could never exist.

We dream of a better version of ourselves,
Wishing to erase the past and move forward
From all the mistakes made,
Too ashamed to realize
This is what makes us who we are.

We waste the precious we have time left,
Dreaming of a life beyond ourselves,
And for what?

To experience something different,
Something bigger than reality,
Because we believe nothing
Can ever get better.

We hide behind the lie
That these are only dreams.
A figure of our imagination,
Which could never come true.

The world we create in our heads
And the world we have in front of us;
They really aren’t that different.

The only difference is
That we believe we can’t have it,
Simply because we try,
And then give up.

We all give up at times.

It’s the people that get back up
After being knocked to their knees
A couple thousand times,
That realize everything is much better
After the fall.

Some people choose
To never discover
The strength it takes
To overcome anything in life,
Because they let fear
Control what they want most.

Define your life.
