The Ruling Class
Draped from the ceiling,
molecules shifting by the wind,
and chiming,
so faintly, so slightly.
I wonder
how this violent color
found its way
into the hollow
creases of my skin.
Perhaps I’ll find
a longing, a saudade
too vast for my comprehension.
But so is the way
the physical world reigns.
