With Wings
When you ask me what
I want to be when
I grow up, I won't
give a smart answer,
like doctor or engineer.
Neither will I give a
profound answer, like
happy. I will be truthful
in the simplest sense.
I will tell you I want
to be a fairy shepherd.
Your laughter is not
appreciated, quite honestly.
In fact it appears to
be positive punishment,
encouraging me to
just lie next time.
It'll certainly be
easier, don't you
agree? People will
finally think I'm sane.
But herding sheep in a
Party City costume is
a legitimate occupation,
and I won't have your
jeers demean me.
You simply can't believe
creating fictional worlds
is what some people
do with their time.
While earning money?
It can't be true!
Why honey, enlighten
yourself. Just look at
the work of Emily Bronte,
or Brenda Shaughnessy,
perhaps. Go on now.
They don't bite. Hard.
