Heart
You did not break my heart,
You burned it till it was nothing but ashes.
You did not break me,
You obliterated me.
You did not hurt me,
You tortured me.
I loved you.
People say "Move on"
But thats easier said than done.
I'm trying so hard to understand
How the one that sang and danced laughed and played
Could be the same man,
That pillaged my heart
And destroyed my soul
And still gave me gifts for no reason at all.
Now I am healing,
Slowly, its true
My bruises are gone
But its my memories of you
That plague me.
Still: I am healing,
My heart is reassembling from the ashes
My body is sealing up all the gaping wounds that your words left.
I am far from how I was,
But I'm ready for a new start.
