Labor of Love Lost
It died
What they had tried so hard to keep alive
They had encapsulated it
with kindness, compassion and warmth
But suddenly the cold winds of despair came through
and blew out what was once a flame of love
For so long they had put all their time and energy toward its survival
But once it left, remorse and fighting took its place
What they had once created and shared was gone
It had been the basis of their relationship
But it left silently in the night
The couple no longer needed each other
It was what had bonded them together and suddenly it no longer existed
Nine months it had been with them, but then
It died
