Losing

The lace beneath you is more intertwined
than roots
and I am losing myself.
We can't afford waiting while we're in between;
instead my soul finds a happier place.
Your time of death never leaves your heart alone
wondering "what am I doing here?"
Have you swept today's miseries under the rug?
Crossing paths,
it's like missing your first flight:
the worst mistake beats never trying
to have so many problems.
So we tattooed our potential across our arms
until it was unmistakable.
