The Summit
We are born on this earth
With great ambitions and lifelong dreams.
Throughout all of our lives,
We try to scale the mountains we climb.
Starting with our first step,
We’re intent on reaching the top.
Nothing can hold us back,
We live and we die for the gold.
Later, as the years pass,
Our glorious visions begin to fade.
Other things steal our focus,
Making our dreams a thing of the past.
Feeling tired we give up,
Since our goals are too far out of reach.
Oh, how foolish we were!
Our mountains simply cannot be scaled.
However, just as we descend,
A piece of old advice becomes clear.
The distance to reaching our summit,
Is nothing to how far we’ve come.
