Misconception
Some things make her
happy temporarily,
like ice cream and
young adult novels
and cute couples
and TV shows and
getting good grades
and buying new
clothes and new
shoes and painting
her toenails a bright
red color in the summer.
She loves warm weather
and crimson leaves falling,
but when winter comes
and her GPA starts falling
instead, she’ll remind herself
of her one steady source of hope:
knowing that she has time.
