My Friend
The sun. Heat evaporates hairs off the skin with just a kiss.
The threat, very real and familiar to all.
Sybaritic glimpses indulge your senses, but soon won’t be enough
Yearning for more, you soar higher than you ever have before
Awestruck by beauty you think you’ve conquered the world.
No, you have emulated the story of Icarus.
Burnt up, you drown in your sorrow.
Daedalus I am, doing what is needed to indulge my life with freedom.
I wish you can see what I see.
Though I’m not as high as you were I see much more.
Melting off all your friends and family,
Left alone with the bugs, stuck by wax which once held beautiful wings.
Still down here I am, soaring through the sky, seeing all.
The time you cry out for me I will be gone,
I wish nothing more than to carry you.
If this is done then I surely will drown in the process.
To die off fast with you, or fly. Soar I will because I know the threat of kissing
the sun.

To my friend who drifted down a bad path. I wish you the best and love you. You're family and always will be. I hope one day you'll read this and will fly with me...
