Too late
He used to comb his fingers through her long hair until
She fell asleep
He used to stroke her hip bones that stuck too far out of her body
He used to stare into her sad eyes
and ponder what she was thinking
he used to graze her scars with his lips
and kiss them until the pain went away
He used to be happy
But then
He developed his own scars
And no one was there to kiss them
Where did she go?
She must’ve gotten lost again
She would do that
Get trapped in her mind for a couple days
escape and then get trapped again
Little did she know
He was trapped too
They were both victims of a brutal cycle
And neither of them knew
Until it was too late.
