My ears wake up before my eyes do
The pit-pat above gently arouses me
The soft milky light leaks beneath the curtains
The quality of the atmosphere is amazing
This is the epitome of peace and inner contentment
Satisfaction crosses my mind
Nothing exciting or intriguing happens
Yet the rain washes away all anxiety
The dull sky slows down time itself
The clouds become a vast sketchboard for the mind
The world is no longer an intimidating one
In fact, it can fit in a cup of green tea on a rainy day
The sound of cars slushing through shallow puddles
The metal rain pipe doing its job above
And the silence of the human world
All collaborate to make a beautiful experience
The outside world becomes irrelevant yet intriguing
I want to visually soak in all of the tranquility outside
At the same time, my duties become as light as the rain
I no longer worry about my role in the world
Small and trivial things grow exponentially in value
A warm drink will be sufficient of a companion
A quiet song on the piano in the background
Becomes enough to fulfill my usually restless mind
The roof above me is equivalent to a great hero
I am immune to the sky and its wet attacks
The walls around me become impenetrable shields
The sharp winds will have no effect
A short walk of a block or two to a friend’s house
Becomes a good five minutes of inner meditation
The air is crisp and refreshing
My cheeks rejoice in the fresh moisture
I can feel the plants’ happiness as well
The leaves gather miniature puddles
The grass collects raindrops
The dirt becomes a healthy brown
A day of rain is a day of cleansing
Every object under the clouds receives a shower
Roads, windows, and benches are washed down
Grime and dirt wiped away by the clear falling water
My brain is washed of its unnecessary thoughts
The remnants of useless ideas are washed away
The lack of sun kills my worries and anxieties
Peace is the ruler of the day
Once the sky has reduced its brightness
And the streetlights start glowing a dull yellow
I take a warm shower and prepare to rest
The soapy shower completes the day-long cleansing process
I gently slide into bed and enjoy how clean I am
I love the lack of friction between my legs and the bed
The rains makes my blanket feel incredibly soft and clean
Pit, pat, I fall asleep.
