There are few beaches in Oklahoma
but in the golden ripple of the plain, I found the sea
I found an ever-changing fluidity
glinting in the sun at dawns and dusks.
That's enough when you are trying
to escape from something
but find yourself too deeply rooted
in a past made out of sandy soil
and a present filled with stunted trees.
