Dreaming
Mom: Jenifer (Madison’s Mom) Biology Teacher: Mrs. Davis (Madi’s Biology Teacher)
Daughter: Madison (Madi) Friend: Lilly (Madi’s Mom)
Aunt: Terry (Madi’s Aunt)
Dreaming
Scene 1:
Mrs. Davis: Alright kids, can anyone tell me what genetics means?
Lilly: Genetics is the study of genes, heredity, and variation in living organisms.
Mrs. Davis: Good Lilly, also kids you need to remember Gregor Mendel is the father of all genetics!
Lilly: I can’t wait to ask my mom what my genes (genetics) are! (Looking at Madi)
Madi: Me too! (Feeling ambivalence towards the situation)
Lilly: What Madi?
Madi: Nothing…just what Mrs. Davis is talking about in class now, me and my mom don’t have the same genetic traits.
Lilly: What are you talking about? Your mom is your mom.
Madi: I know she’s my mom. She’ll always be my mom, just she and I have different similarities. I have brown hair and she has blonde hair. I have blue eyes and she has green eyes. Our noses are different too her nose is pointy and mine isn’t. My face is oval and her face is round! She says I look like my dad, but he’s dead and she has no photos of him.
Lilly: What?! Your dad died when you were six? You have to have some type of picture of him growing up?
Madi: He died when I was T W O? Thanks for being my “Supposed” Best friend and remembering stuff about me, I remember everything about you!!
Lilly: You know what…
Mrs. Davis: Lilly, Madi! Stop arguing and pay attention to the assignment.
Scene 2:
(School is now over for the day and Madi is home now)
Madi: Hey mom Can I talk to you?
Mom: Sure, honey, what’s up? Bad day at school? Was your day good?
Madi: No, my day was good! Today in Biology we were talking about genetic traits and well…
Mom: (looks worried)…Uhhuh
Madi: Were just learning about genetics?..and
Mom: Stop Madi, I don’t want to talk about “genetics”. End of discussion.
Madi: WHY?
Mom: Because I said so.
Madi: YOU’RE THE WORST MOTHER EVER! (Feeling hatred inside)
Mom: Madi go upstairs and think about what you’ve said.
Madi: I wish you weren’t my mom!!! (Talking to herself as she’s going up stairs)
Mom: MADI (Yelling upstairs at her)
Madi: WHAT (Yelling at her mom down stairs)
Mom: You can only come down if you have a positive attitude.
Madi: Whatever
Mom: Missy, your aunt Terry is coming over tonight.
Madi; AUNT TERRY! (As she screams to herself)
Madi: I love Aunt Terry, she’s so beautiful; with her long brown hair, blue eyes. Why can’t she be my mom? Sometimes I feel like I was switched at birth with how different me and my mom are. (Thinking to herself)
Scene 3:
(Knock Knock)
Madi: I’ll get the door!
(Aunt Terry, Mom and Madi are sitting at home eating dinner)
Aunt Terry: Today is the day…
Madi: what day is it?
Aunt Terry: The day my baby disappeared, sometimes you remind me of her.
Madi: What happened to her?
Aunt Terry: Someone took her, one day we were at Walmart, I was getting a canned food I turned around only for a 2 seconds to get the canned food but when I turned back around she was gone.
Madi: What was her name?
Aunt Terry: Her name was Ashley she was only three when she was taken from me.
Madi: I’m so sorry Aunt Terry!
Mom: Stop it…stop…STOP
Madi Aunt Terry: What? (Both looking confused)
Mom: Stop talking about that its depressing.
Aunt Terry: Well it’s depressing for me not you. (Looking at her sister)
Mom: Well I’m the one who took your daughter. (As she whispers to herself) (Madi was right beside her and heard her mom)
Madi: YOU TOOK ME AWAY?
Mom: Shut up your brat!
Aunt Terry: You took my baby? My BABY? My baby I gave birth too? You inconsiderate piece of garbage. You’re the worst sister ever and I hope you rot in prison forever.
(Madi wake up wake up)
Mom: Wake up baby! You collapse and hit your head against the window.
Madi: What? …MOM IS IT YOU?!
Mom: Yeah it’s me? Who else would it be? Aunt Jenifer? It’s me your mom Terry!
Madi: No one, I was just dreaming.
