Three Things My Girlfriend Wrote My In A Letter
Number One:
“I fell in love with your hair whose true color I’ve never seen before”
She told me how she stumbled out of her cover and into mine just one piece at a time;
With how I fit perfectly in her palms,
With how I told her she was the first touch I’d truly wanted,
With how my hands look in a coat of nail polish and how my voice sounds through a telephone.
Emily told me:
“I fell in love with your hair whose true shade I’ve never seen before
And how my fingers feel through every single tint of it.”
Number Two:
“In times far from now”
She asked if we’ll be living on my farm out west,
If we will hunt bigots for fun in her farm boy pickup truck,
If we will go to college.
In a letter asked she me if we will live in a grimey one-bedroom over the only genuine city,
Too many years from now.
If we’ll be broke and eat her paintings for sustenance,
And if I’ll be busking poetry and selling my body to midnight lights.
Number Three:
Dear Emily-
I fell in love with kissing your shoulders,
I fell in love with how you dance with your little sister and how you’ll never admit it,
With how you reach for my hand on every street
I fell for how silly you look in my floral dresses,
And with our faces hidden underneath your green hair.
I fell in love with your bedroom window,
And I fell in love with how your body looks at 3 am reflected in it.
I fell in love too with stumbling out of an armor too strong and fitting perfectly into yours.
And Emily,
In times and letters and lives far from now,
We most certainly will hunt bigots for fun,
In your farm boy pickup truck.
