two sides of myself
i.
i want
to roll like a rolling stone
along those midnight streets
lit by bright, mind-shattering neon signs
i want
many lovers, passionate and irrelevant,
that shine like a fiery beacon,
leading me the wrong way
i want
money, fame, and fortune,
to live in luxury,
without anguish
i want
to forget, and become
drunk, delirious and high--
mindless.
ii.
i want
to sit on the roof-tops,
examining the life below,
pondering my small existence
i want
a love that brings me to my
knees, humbled and ashamed,
but is pure and true
i want
a life of pleasure and comfort,
full of purpose and fulfillment,
without anguish
i want
to remember, and leave the
past behind, finally
moving on.
