Velvet Sky: Hear Me Cry
Kerosene flames lick the ghostly contours
Of a face
Etched in pain-
Childhood wonder feeds from the derogatory souls dipped in cherry cola
That dress themselves in the artificial sugar coating of life.
The smiles that tug at corners of mouths
With dark irises;
no light licking the white of your eyes.
A tall hat
Tipped at every stranger to fabricate the welcoming aura.
You are a lost soul, love-
The red velvet jacket you wear so religiously
Hangs upon your skeletal figure
As your thin fingers grasp at the air-
Craving something tangible.
