Once Upon a Time
The words are like a binary code,
                             Deciphering it takes time
With settings and themes, and rhymes and scenes
But that’s not even close to what it’s about
From Saxon’s battling the knights of Camelot
To little red riding hood and the big, bad wolf
                       From Shakespeare to J.K. Rowling
From once upon a time to the end
From a haunted house to a dystopian world
Literature is a way of life,
As many have died trying to reach out to the prestigious words that astonish them,
While we take it for granted today
So take a moment and find your nearest book,
Let the windows to your soul scan a page of words,
Let your pupils dart back and forth even if your mind says, who wrote this absurd piece of work?
Absorb the knowledge that others’ have discovered, for it may not last for long,
As books are there to remind us how foolish we are
Taking words and knowledge for granted,
Because they might fade out soon, like glistering stars
All this little paperback novel wants to do is implant itself into your mind
To explain to us, foolish and ignorant homo sapiens,
That all we need to do is read four little words
To start us on our journey to an intellectual world
                                 Once upon a time…

I can't tell you how many people at my school hate the term, 'reading'. It annoys me so much that reading a book is apparently a waste of time and too much effort. What about cell phones? TVs? These are not a waste of time?
