My Hope

Hope seems to
get away from me
as soon as I grab hold
A slippery minx
that slithers and
slides
through my mind
I grab ahold
and I think I have it
but it eludes
me
But
I search on
swimming through
this dark murky place
called life
following the light that
comes from hope
I search on
knowing
that one day
true hope
will be mine
and I might find rest
this I find
is in itself

The hope I’ve been searching for
I’ve had all along
deep inside my heart
