If I Die
If I die today
you will find poems
left unfinished
on my computer desktop,
all the feelings
that refused to be wrapped
into words
or senseless thoughts
that felt weird on paper.
If I die today
remember the moments we shared
and not the ones we won’t
and
if I go,
let my body
be a godless church.
If I die today
I’ll carry the pieces
of this broken love
with me,
so you don’t try to fix
what is already gone.
If I die today
then all I have not said,
will be left unsaid
and maybe
If I die today
I will be left a picture,
an instant trapped
inside a photograph
that has since disappeared
or changed into disappearance
or forgotten
with the ashes
of yesterday’s bonfire.
