While the World Spins
The sun cast a shadow
Of light on the Earth,
Eclipsing the sorrows
Of all of our hearths.
The world will keep turning,
As hearts break and bend.
The world will keep turning,
As we slowly mend.
You mustn’t ask time
To stop and wait for you,
For the clock has no rhyme
Or reason to pray to.
Famine, depression, death, pain,
Joy, miracles, life, freedom,
The world will keep going,
Steady and true,
For as much as we may hate it,
It’s what planets do.
The world has spun
From a time unknown,
Back when Earth was fire
And the moon hadn’t shone.
And yet we stay strong,
We live day by day,
Letting the world spin
And spin as it may.
