Raindrops
I close my eyes and listen.
I listen to the steady rain and how it started dancing on the rooftop., progressively getting louder as more dancers join in.
It's all so soothing, as if it could just wash everything away.
Yet I hear the sound of rain falling into puddles.
And it hits me.
Everything doesn't wash away.
In the end it gathers into one huge mess.
One huge mess that you're left to clean up by yourself.
Now the rain is getting softer, but the thoughts are getting louder.
You can hear that single raindrop.
It's so distinctive, so different, the one you just can't seem to get away from.
The one that sounds so different from the others.
Just like that one thought that stands out from the rest of them.
And you can't seen to stop listening.
Now it's too distinctive.
You try to focus on other ones.
The ones you can hear falling in a puddle.
Or the one that keeps landing on the car.
Maybe it’s the one hitting the wooden fence rhythmically on the hollow spot.
All of these raindrops, but your mind keeps going back to the one that first caught your attention.
The one that will stay there until the sun comes up, making all the rain go away.
Reminding you that the sun will always be there to shed light upon you.
But for now the rain has stopped and so have you.

I've always fancied the rain. It's a beautiful thing that people seem to take for granted and I wish they just say the beauty in it as much as I do.
