Roots
She was wandering
not taking notice of
the changing scenery.
The twisting roots on the ground
were so captivating
that she didn’t realize exactly how deep
she had gone
When eventually she emerged
from the dark abyss,
the others around her
commended her bravery
all the while questioning her sanity.
Had it not occurred to them
that is was no accident that
she didn’t look up?
Perhaps the path she found
meant more to her than the one
others see - a clearing amongst the tall wood.
And perhaps she was not lost at all.
She was very much at home
amongst the wooded beasts that surrounded her
and felt misplaced between
the glass in the window pane
and the panel in the door frame.

This piece was inspired by the artwork of one of my peers at school. I was also kind of inspired by the quote "not all who wander are lost", which can be found in numerous instagram bios.
It also is similar to "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost but also not that much like it at all. I see my piece and Frost's with similar imagery.
