Gardener
Blood, labor, and tears
all poured into the beautiful garden.
The beautiful collage of petals
forming a picturesque scene,
a sight to behold.
But even masterpieces are easily defiled.
Off to the side, tiny leaves
of a misunderstood weed
desecrate the piece of art
so carefully nurtured.
With an aura of outrage
the little sprout’s spirit
is ripped free from the canvas of the Earth,
its corpse tossed aside,
deemed useless by society.
Yet even with the blemish gone,
the now believingly keen eye of the gardener
notices other imperfections
hiding amongst their neighbors
from the cruel judgment above.
His vision for the vibrant masterpiece
in front of him
distorts to an ugly collage
or only red and black,
brewing an intense hatred of the art.
The previously perfect petals
are now naught but an eyesore.
And the same barbaric punishment
is swiftly inflicted to those below
who no longer fill their purpose.
It is only once his bloodlust subsides
that he recognizes the enemies around him,
and fearful to the consequences of his actions
he succumbs to himself
erasing the last memory of the once beautiful garden.
