Sorry.
One word.
Just one word filled with false promises and fabricated sorrow.
Two syllables.
Only two syllables to express our plastic regret.
Five letters.
We get five letters to say that what we did will never happen again.
Half a second.
It takes half a second to lie to the ones we hurt.
We say it though we don't mean it.
We think it makes the pain go away.
It doesn't.
The pain still remains.
One word is not enough.
Two syllables are not enough.
Five letters are not enough.
Half a second is not enough.
Nothing we can put in words is enough to undo the harm we've caused.
It takes actions.
Actions mean the most.
But we stick with sorry.
Because it's easy.
