The Way You See Me
I wish that I could see myself through your eyes and feel what you are feeling
I wish that I could see myself through the eyes of your parents
I wish I could see myself through the eyes of that hot jock
I wish that I could see myself through the eyes of the disapproving grandparents
Through the eyes of the stranger walking down the street
Through the eyes of my friends, from yours too
I want to know if you judge me by my clothes
By my hair
If you judge me by my short shorts or by the boots I wear
Then I want to tell you about myself
About how I love helping people
About how family means everything to me
How I love animals, especially my dogs
I want to tell you how I have a 4.0 GPA
and how I have plans to go to collage and become a Doctor
or Architect, maybe even a Publisher
Maybe I’ll even tell you about how “Freedom Isn’t Free”
means more to me than most people
I’ll tell you about my big family
and my dream to live on a farm and own horses
I’ll tell you how I want kids and a Prince Charming
to come sweep me off of my feet
Then, I want to see myself through your eyes and feel what you’re feeling
I want to see myself through the eyes of your parents
and through the eyes of that hot jock
I want to see myself through the eyes of the disapproving grandparents
Through the eyes of the stranger walking down the street
I want to see myself through my friends eyes, and from your friends eyes too
I want to see if it changes your sight
To feel if it changes your feelings too
But in the end it doesn’t matter
It doesn’t matter what you think, It doesn’t matter what anyone thinks
It only matters what I know about myself to be true
