A Wandering He[art]
Where are you going,
Dear heart,
And where have you been?
You've never been lost.
I can feel you, right here
In my chest.
You won't let me rest,
Wandering aimlessly among the trees.
Heart you always walk
With a longing finger,
Trailing against gnarled wooden trunks,
Indifferent to your touch,
Trying to speak to the whispering leaves
Who won't share their secrets with you.
What on this earth are you looking for?
You have lived in many hollows.
Given yourself up countless times to the wind
Only to be returned to earth.
Heart, you are too heavy to hold.
They say art comes from the tortured soul.
I disagree.
I say art comes from a lonely heart.
