Rand Road
Damn, I’ve got to love
that electric grind
the stony stirring
of drums and guitar-shrieks
spit out the radio, fragmented
against the bruised sky
like hot white stars,
cool June tangling hair
into limp ink-strands
or the way it leaves me
staring at Rand Road red lights
until they turn into pools of blood
melting watery into the night,
like some jittery heart left
a thrumming mess
behind breastbone.
