Garage Sale MAG
Tin can of too-salty pickles,
a box of weeping, disowned stuffed animals.
A chain of 9,999 paper cranes,
a rusted helicopter with snapped rotors.
Right after the sun explodes,
you realize its importance.
In the moments after burning a photo album,
you forget good memories.
Where have you gone?
A first-grade clay project,
high-school graduation cap.
And among the junk and treasures,
a single petal from a burned field of flowers.

I was inspired to write this piece after holding a garage sale and seeing how many items were important to me and how all of them have really made me who I am today.
