Old Hotel
Old hotel,
on the corner of 21st and 56th.
Twenty- eight open rooms and
a moth-eaten sofa in the non-existent lobby.
Alive with dust, mold creeping where the
stained carpet meets the
termite-infested wall.
Old hotel,
lost from the track of life,
befriended by loneliness and
mildew on the cracked windowsill,
vines ensnaring the building like they’re
trying to stop it from going anywhere.
They didn’t have to help.
Old hotel,
Bricks gushing out onto
the newly-built street, passerby
kicking them out of their way.

This is about a run-down hotel, really lost from the human touch, and this piece encompasses what this hotel "feels" to be so alone for so long.
