day of a solar eclipse.
Frozen-over windows on the
day you learn to drive.
Racism and
the war in Iraq,
dog-eared pages and
a rained-out picnic.
Mud hugging the edges
of brand new boots,
global warming and
the endangerment of frogs.
Too much sugar in
your Starbucks coffee, and
a white sofa, stained with Coke,
spilling over into the next morning.
