My Gift
When I was a child
I saw life as a gift
Life was light
Life was happiness
Life was satisfaction
I was sheltered from the outside world back then
What I thought was a world of peace and tranquility was nothing more than an amateurish view
Life is pain
Life is sadness
Life is the so called Hell that an old book preached to me
The brothers and sisters that were meant to live with me in harmony have failed their only job
The world is anything but beautiful
How can we live when we are forced to wear a mask
How can I live when I’m being abused
How can I live when the sunlight that some see as a heaven just gives life to the monsters that cause me grief and regret
This world we live in is not ready for a future generation
This world we live in is falling apart at our fingertips
And all we’re doing is watching
It’s our job to stop this
It’s our job cease the pain
It’s our job to fix our friends
It’s our job to fix ourselves
It’s our job to heal the world
