In Between
In a moment of transition,
I tap my foot on the floor,
Restless and excited.
Feeling neither here nor there, ?
I am lost at a crossroads.
The Amazing 18 gave me the keys to drive
and the power to vote.
But here I am,
grounded in my driveway.
The GPS has a short circuit,
and my skyscraping dreams are off the grid.
Staring through the foggy windshield,
I flick my high beams on,
and merge onto the uncharted map of life.
When met with a fork in the road,
I wonder:
Should I turn right?
Left?
Or better yet,
is there a path in between?
There is a book planned out,?
but with no words written down.
This path that I created
with the tracks I left behind,
Where does it all lead?
Although the GPS is broke,
and continues to reroute,
Life, as it turns out, is a journey,
whose directions are not all clear.
Yet through the changes, fog, and forks,
there lies a calm, serenity.
One learns to feel at ease,
with the changing times,
and the ebb and flow of the tide.
The beats may change,
but continue to tap your foot,
in time to the rhythm of life.
For this is a chance of a lifetime to be
in two places at once,
a place in between.
