Evergreen
  Loving heart,
  Loving soul-
  You are an evergreen,
  A drinker of eternal water:
  You will never grow old.
  Bright fire,
  Warm hand.
  Tucked in a corner,
  Roses and thorns grow around
  My mind’s bed.
  You told me to care,
And I did what I could.
  I made mistakes that I
  Could’ve fixed
  And didn’t,
Even though I said that I would.
  The world gave me laughter,
  And people gave me pain
Wrapped in bows and pretty boxes-
I escape to the woods so I won’t have
  To see them again.
  The flowers tell me stories,
And the trees teach me stillness.
The sun warms my thin skin
And I feel it travel through my blood.
  The water freshens the air,
And the air gives me life. I wonder what I would do
If the world wasn’t truly good.
  Loving heart,
  Loving soul-
  You are an evergreen,
  A drinker of eternal water:
  You will never grow old.
I escape to the meadows, because they have found
  My precious place.
  The grass tingles
  And I like the look
On the sky’s fragile, cerulean face.
The clouds look like fluffy stepping stones
And I like to pretend that I can fly.
I lie down in this meadow, and inside,
I soar up from this world
  And into the sky.
But they find me there, too-
  Can you believe it?
So I jump down before the stars take over,
And I head off into the direction
  Of the nearest cliff.
  Loving heart,
  Loving soul-
  You are an evergreen,
  A drinker of eternal water:
  You will never grow old.
  I twirl right off
And I like the way falling feels.
  The air speeding up,
The sky moving away like a lost love.
The world becomes fuzzy and the backdrop fades and starts to peel.
  The colors drip down
  And begin to dance away.
  I lie there, frozen,
As the sun sets and rises
  Into a new day.
  You told me to care,
And I did what I could.
  I made mistakes that I
  Could’ve fixed
  And didn’t,
Even though I said that I would.
  The world gave me peace
  And people only hate.
They give you nothing at all-
No matter how hard they try,
They are gray and numb and base.
But the flowers were so pretty,
And the trees only spoke the truth.
The air was pure and sweet
And the sky the bluest blue.
  Loving heart,
  Loving soul-
  You are an evergreen,
  A drinker of eternal water:
  You will never grow old.
  Goodbye cruel people,
  Not a cruel world.
