Where I'm From
I am from Nagawicka lake and the boats upon it,
From sunburns on sizzling, summer days,
and forgetting to use sunscreen,
I am from steaming, home-cooked Lasagna,
delicate nachos soaked in ground beef,
and cheesy puns,
I am from dripping with sweat playing basketball with J Speed,
from my nickname Jello,
and the question: Why do they call you Jello?
I am from waiting silently in the woods for a deer to saunter by,
from antler-trophies and frozen fingers,
and eating chocolate donuts for breakfast in the cabin,
I am from Bergy, Fish Risch, and Matty VG,
from devouring the Aporkalypse at the PB every week,
and the #3 at the Hartbrook Cafe,
I am from waking up at 4 a.m. on a Saturday morning,
from sailing across the windy waters,
and from sunburns on sizzling, summer days.
