An Artist's Struggle
Pencil skimming over paper
Lines forming, connecting
To create something
Just
Beautiful
Yes, it’s perfect
It’s fantastic
It’s a masterpiece
It’s-
Nope nope nope
It’s horrible
It’s terrible
What even-
Why?!
Eraser in hand
The lines disappear
Reduced to nothing
But rubber scraps
But wait
There’s more
You start again
Pencil in hand
Lines reforming
Graphite skimming
Over paper
Colors fill in the spaces
Like a rainbow filling the sky
White paper is replaced with
Vividly colored dyes
Finally after hours and hours
Of hard work and erasing
It’s done
It’s not a masterpiece
But it’s good, so much better
And it’s hard to believe
That it came from
Pencil moving on paper
