"Find what you love and let it kill you." -Charles Bukowski

As you look

through the filter of your bedrom window

you may see cute cottages

clean streets

and crowds of people

holding hands, laughing, smiling

flashing teeth

Though, as you step back from that

dusty ledge,

in houses with long hallways

you will find a bathroom

with needles

being stuck into skin to seep

skinny in,

to inject unnatural chemicals into

veins in hopes of balancing

imbalance.

You will find a dinner table

with a gril who

sits on the edge and

consumes good food only

to bring it back up.

In the house next to yours

in the party

thrown by a friend of yours you

will find

people popping pills

to feel a rush;

a rush no longer felt without

artificial supplementation-

stomach acids too strong breaking

and burning

every source of energy

engrossed inside.

In sweltering summers you will hear

the chatter of teeth

and friction of feet

toes tremble

remaining cold not matter

how many socks are topped,

heaters on-

it's still freezing.

On street corners

lips linger, leaking love

and blood and

kisses drool down to the floor.

Fingers bleed from

scratching scalps and scaly skin-

flesh being devoured

by the cold.

In Highschool classrooms

arms drop

too tired of reaching for a

helping hand and

glasses

slip down noses

shattering onto the ground-

watch your step

broken pieces surround,

but by all means

turn your heads look out

your bedroom's sandy screen

but beware, you will not find

all that there is to see.
