Morning
I happened to notice, that around where I live, nobody goes outdoors. You’d most likely see them in their house, watching Kentucky games or eating McDonalds, watching reality TV. I guess this what most people call “family bonding.” Even in the mornings where most people are asleep.
“I get up early every morning for work. So the weekends for sleeping in.”
Most people do feel this way. It’s a shame because, if you wake up early, you can see how beautiful your world really is.
I’m sitting here right now, in the swing on my back porch, at exactly 8:07. As I type away, I realize how much time had passed since I woke up. 7:45. My dog. She heard another faint little dog across the street bark. And she went crazy. She howled her tail off. And woke me up. I look out my window at the tree and see where the light hits, which makes the tree look golden. So I get up, grab my Chromebook, and sit outside and type. As I type, the biggest tree in our back yard starts to talk. It’s not talking to me of course but, to its components. The birds and the squirrels. The birds start hustling about screaming at each other. The squirrels jump back and forth from one tree to the other, like the daredevils they are, playing tag. I watch them play, then get silent. They play every morning like this but, have to get ready for the day. They have very little time to entertain themselves now. They need to get moving and find a way to survive. The birds leave the trees, and the squirrels look for nuts. By nightfall, the birds come back and squirrels lay down to rest. As they fall asleep, they know, by next day will come morning. And they can play again.
