Promises
Will you forget about me?
Will I leave your mind?
When the bag under my eyes,
Turn into wasted, wrinkled skin.
When the breath that went into your ears
Slows and dies away.
When I promise to love you forever,
Will you promise too?
Or will you forget about me?
Like the wind forgets a blade of grass
Or the sun forgets the bottom on the sea,
Will you remember the color of my skin,
When I have grown palest and out of life.
Will you bother to remember
The deep undying love I had for you, dear.
Or the first time my trembling lips touched yours.
The day you gave yourself to me.
Because darling I will not forget about you.
When the aging takes my memory away,
You will be what's left.
Left of me, undying.
But, after I have met the same inevitable fate
As all others in this place,
Will you forget about me?
