Homerun hitter
The crack of the bat,
the sound of your cleats
dragging the dirt
and throwing it behind you.
You see the ball drop,
feet and feet away!
And you go for it!
Coach tells you to stop,
but you bolt
down the base line
you fly
3feet away,
you see the ball
heading for you.
You drop and get down
in the dirt you lay
as you hear blu yell “safe!”
You are relived
as your team cheers around you
realizing what you did
you stand.
You walk back to the dugout
dusting yourself off,
grabbing your dusty glove
from your dirty bag.
