I have loved the stars to fondly to be fearful of the night.-- Galileo Galilei

I walk across an open field,

Heading for the woods.

The trees seem to reach out to me,
The wind seems to call to me,
beckoning my name.

I stepped into another world,
this is where I can leave my life behind,
My worries,
My anxieties,
My troubles,
Gone.

The sun peeks through the branches,
Warming my face.

I follow the path,
But I don’t want to be like everyone else.
So I stray from the path,
Going my own way.

I stumble upon a stream,
The fish are swimming with not a care in the world.
I wish my life was like that.

I sit and wait,
For what?
I’m not sure.
But I keep waiting.

I watch the clouds roll by,
through the gaps in the tree branches.
The leaves have started to fall,
they match my yellow sweater.

I see a fox hole,
I watch it.
A face peeks out,
Then disappears again,
reminding me of my confidence.

I watch as a dark ink starts to consume the beautiful colors of the sun set.
I close my eyes,
Drifting to sleep,
Wishing I could stay here,
Where I belong,
Forever.

I walk,
I run,
On nothing but air.

My dreams transport me,
taking me somewhere new every time.

This time I have taken to the sky.
Floating above earth.

Nobody noticed I was gone,
No one cares.
But I do.

I sit on a cloud,
watching the world pass by.

This magical feeling overcomes me,
then,
I wake up.

I wake up from a fantasy,
I wake up from another world,
I wake up from a fall dream.
