21st Century Love Story
Heart breaking. Arms shaking.
You forgiving. Me forgetting.
Broken glass piled around. blood streaming, running down.
Holes in doors and holes in hearts, what it would be like to be apart.
Boys and girls hide their fears and fake a smile when their “love” appears.
Running, grasping toward the hope, only to be left with strands of rope.
We hurt and heal but don’t seal the deal looking for something better as we are drawn closer to our debtor.
The girl, cooperative as ever, trying to hold onto him forever.
The boy, gentle but stern, doesn’t believe he has some lessons to learn.
Here I sit with an empty page letting out all my built up rage.
I love him, I hate him, I’m somewhere in between.
Some say that’s what love is, but that love’s not for me.
