dead and lovely
five years ago today
we were happy and so in love.
you knocked on my door,
i answered, and i saw your
beautiful face smiling at me
with your hands behind your back.
you were up to something,
as always, when you brought
your hands forward,
they were full of flowers,
a card, and a teddy bear
that said “i love you.”
that was so long ago…
today you’re gone,
and that’s okay.
you’re finally happy,
and that’s all i ever
wanted for you
anyways.
