I Go Back to March of 1998
I imagine parents standing there waiting to get a room
I Imagine a father pacing back and forth out of the hospital
As the sturdy arch of the door hovered above his head, with
white tiles, as light reflects like
Heaven from above.
A soon to be mother struggling to push up out of a chair,
the nurse standing patiently behind her,
the needle of pain hits her back, as the
relief like standing in a field of meadows
she grips his waterfall of a hand,
as if they were just getting married,
she knows they will be happy.
She see’s they’re not making a mistake
she knows she is not the wrong woman
and he is not the wrong man, as the baby girl
lies within the sturdy arms of the mother.
They realize the blessing of their daughter
has just entered the beautiful life
she has been given.
As she grows older
they will let her know they love her when they’re
standing still beside her in the middle of march and say,
Sweety, we are proud to be your parents,
their darling of a daughter looks proudly up to them
she know’s it,
she can feel their love.
On the day she has kids of her own she will love
them and enlighten their beautiful world.
She will not fail them, with the
strike that sparks within our eyes,
one day she will stand still besides them
and tell her kids she loves them.
