The Pain Behind My Voice
When I get up on the stage, heart racing with each step I'm taking
I can't forget my rage, my mind is wasting, breaths inhaling
But suddenly the music starts and I can't take it anymore
I let go my feelings into the words I wrote before
I poured out my worries and my mistakes that I thought I'd cast aside
I never wanted them to feel my pain or the aches and shakes from inside
But they cheered nevertheless and I let out my breaths and sang another song
The pain was gone yet I felt no regret
for I held them in for too long
I had fought against it
They listened and they loved it
They talked all about it , couldn't ignore it
They never thought I'd let go of my poise
As if I had a choice
I showed them the pain behind my voice

Whever I sing, I feel free. I feel the best that I've ever felt and I can't remember any single worry that's on my mind. I hope that when people listen to me sing, they feel the same way too. I can't say that I've never been neglected or that someone didn't appreciate my singing because it has happened before but there are millions who would love to hear my voice when they're crying through the darkness. I want to spread my voice, my light, my encouragement. Enjoy this poem.
