XVII (17)
I've lived another year so its time for another one.
Gonna give my 2-cents based on where I'm from.
I finally gave up on trying to perfect my 3.
Don't wanna be the best ever to spend 4 years on JV.
Time to focus on soccer, the sport I've played since I was 5.
Still waiting on Drake's "Views From the 6", oh what a time to be alive.
I've been dreaming of reaching something God took 7 days to create
Its making me resent the phrase, "If you skate, you would be great, if you could make a figure 8."
All this uncreative art is making me say nein!
Which means no, so I wanna raise everyone's vision to 20/10
Make them see farther all the way to 3011
And have the impact of the 12 disciples
Or change stubborn ways like the 13th Amendment.
Although slavery does still exist, for teenagers this sounds insane
But I promise human-trafficking does exist in 2015.
So as I feel the heat of 1 six year old looking up to me,
I pray that at 17 my words are not just vanity.
Change can and will come if actions are put into place.

This poem was based off of another poem I made called XVI, which used the same format of counting up to my age at that point with every line. Since I wrote that poem, only about half a year had past, but my thoughts had changed so much that when I re-read XVI I had to make a sequel which turned out to be XVII.
