Autumn
The green leaves turn to brown
Orange, yellow and reds
dancing through the air
tell their story of the year that's passed
paint the ground and make it a Picasso
itself is the masterpiece
the gentle caress of autumn
steals the sultry heat of summer
as you enjoy the cool air kissing your skin
It protects you and comforts you
the earth is beautiful and bare at the same time
it becomes more silent
to the point where the silence is distracting
no birds chirping
no motorcycle engines roaring
no music blaring
less life
a calmer life
at least where you are
life begins traveling South where they can survive
and thrive
at night the sun sets sooner and your body fights the moon to see who can stay awake longer
the rays of moonlight contour the night
and the icy chill is the Beware Sign posted at the beginning of winter.
