Fallen Soldier
Faces painted with red and black, preparing for the storm
Thunder clapping songs of old with rain that washes away the memories
Cries of the warrior formed deep within lungs of the broken and bruised
As shots of silver and gold flash in the midnight sky
Cold lungs feel heavy with their final breath of the round
Each heart crumbles beneath strength greater than their own
Knees grow weak with each pound of brutal force
And empty eyes take one last glimpse of the scene
The mountains shout out names of all who have fallen
The skies swirl with the souls of lost brothers
Outstretched arms left empty, never again to be filled
And hands reach out to comfort a spirit that is damaged
