Gifted Catastrophe
I have the world handed to me on a silver platter
The opportunities hovering over me by the sun
The love circling me with its warmth
The future wrapped in a pretty box
Topped with a ribbon because I am special
But I have been weighed down with expectations
My hands too full to reach for the world
The shade of the darkness that lives inside
Keeps me from reaching the sun
I have become cold with hate
Untouchable by the love I once soaked in
I take steps every day
So one day
I can get to my pretty box
But I am tripping and something is pulling it further
And further
And further
Away
So far
That I can barely see the bow
Made for me
So far
That I can barely see
How special I am
Anymore.
The luck rains on me day to day
But I am too busy drowning in the ocean of defeat
To feel it.
