Where I'm From
Where I’m From
I am from badges, brothers, and blackboards.
Daisies to brownies,
Matt to John,
and Hanrahan to Hanson.
I am from the pink stuffed bear on my bed,
and the hospital visit it’s from.
A seizure with an unknown cause,
and mom by my side.
I am from the white corner house,
in the smallest of towns.
Waking up to the fire station bell,
and closing my eyes to the bang of the passing train.
I am from the woods surrounding my house,
on bus number two.
The pink skies of the sunrise peeking over the trees,
and the orange glow of the sunset falling behind the pond.
I am from softball and volleyball.
First place and last place.
Running the bases,
and setting up the spike.
I am from a class of 40,
then a class of 600.
North Lake, then Arrowhead.
Arrowhead...then where?
